Overview
Shannon Ebner (b. 1971) lives and works in New York. Ebner’s conceptually driven practice addresses language as a material form through work in photography, video, installation, sculpture and printed matter. 
 
Recent solo exhibitions include Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University, Palo Alto; Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, LAX<>Art, Los Angeles and MoMA PS1. Group exhibitions include kestner gesellschaft, Hanover; Liverpool Biennial; the 31st Biennial of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana; the 54th Venice Biennale; the 6th Berlin Biennale of Contemporary Art; and the Whitney Biennial, New York. Ebner’s work is in public collections such as The Museum of Modern Art, New York; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Guggenheim Museum, New York; Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Bard Hessel Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Publications by Ebner include Stray World; A Public Character; Auto Body Collision; STRIKE; and The Sun as Error.
